Membership

The following shall be eligible for membership upon complying with the Association’s rules and regulations and upon paying the required entry and subscription fees:

Full membership shall be open to all those who are interested in the field of public health.

Associate membership status shall be open to associations/institutions with objectives that address matters of public health interest, and that are prepared to comply with TPHA rules and regulations.

Honorary membership status shall be open to individuals who have made eminent contribution to public health in Tanzania or to the Association, on their nomination for such membership status by an Association member and upon being voted upon in a general meeting, having obtained a minimum of two-thirds of the total votes cast.

Ordinary members may opt to become life members by paying a lumpsum of money equivalent to ten years subscription. Upon this remittance, the life member shall be exempted from paying subsequent annual subscriptions and will continue to exercise his/her full rights and enjoy the privileges of his/her full membership in the Association during his/her life time.

Student membership will be open to pre-college, college and undergraduate students with interest in public health.

Ordinary members may opt to become life members by paying a lumpsum of money equivalent to ten years subscription. Upon this remittance, the life member shall be exempted from paying subsequent annual subscriptions and will continue to exercise his/her full rights and enjoy the privileges of his/her full membership in the Association during his/her life time.

Membership of the Association is fully fledged upon complying with the following:

  • Filling appropriate application form.
  • Paying the required entry fees
  • Being confirmed by the Executive Committee
  • Not being more than two years in arrears of annual subscriptions.  A member two years in arrears shall automatically lose his/her voting rights.  A member three years and above in arrears shall lose his/her membership.

A member shall be deemed to have forfeited his/her membership in the Association upon a decision of the Executive Committee in the event of:

  •  Failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Association;
  • In case of professional misconduct.
  • Failure to attend two consecutive Annual General Meetings without notified reasons
  • Being in arrears in paying his/her annual subscription for three    consecutive years
